There will be a 3-D Broken Arrow Archery shoot Sunday July 8th at Beaver Lake. Sign-in will be from sunrise till noon. A practice range will be available, and concessions will also be sold. The entry fee is $10 for members and $12 for non-members, $8 for children age 11-17, and free for the cub class (10 and younger) and active military members. Patoka lake Bow Hunters will host a "30" Target 3D shoot on Sunday July 15th at Patoka Lake Archery Range near Wickliffe. Participants should use the main entrance to Patoka Lake off State Road 164. Registration on Sunday starts at Daylight till 12:00pm. Shooting fees are $8.00 for Active PLB members, $10.00 for Nonmembers and $5.00 for Youth (age 11-17) while Cubs (10 & younger) and Active Military shoot for free. Registration is open for the Full Moon 5K taking place at Patoka Lake beach on Friday, July 27 at 9:30p.m. Race 3.1miles through the woods on roadways, a well-maintained gravel and grass lane and paved bike trail lit by moonlight and luminaries. All proceeds from this event will go to support Patoka’s non-releasable raptors; a red-tailed hawk, eastern screech owl and bald eagle.Early registration is $25 which includes a race t-shirt. Join Patoka’s 2nd annual car show with a view at the Patoka Lake Beach on Saturday, July 21, 2018.The show will run from 10:00a.m. until 3:00p.m. EDT in the upper beach parking lot overlooking the lake.$20 entry donation is accepted but not required.Motorcycles are welcome too! Day of registration will begin at 9a.m. at the event site.The entrance fee to Patoka Lake will be waived for all participants. Come on out rain or shine! The first 50 registered vehicles will receive a dash plaque.Trophies will be awarded!Enjoy music, food, door prizes and a large silent auction.All proceeds from this event will support the educational birds of prey at the Nature Center.This program is brought to you by the Patoka Lake Volunteers. The 27th Annual Star Party is scheduled for Saturday, July 14 from 12p.m. -4p.m. at the Patoka Lake Nature Center then from 8p.m.- 11p.m. (or later) at the Patoka Lake Beach.Enjoy a special presentation by members of the Louisville & Evansville Astronomical Societies and the Stonebelt Stargazers of Bedford, IN as they share their knowledge of the solar system.8 to 11 PM “Stars on the Beach” Amateur astronomers will share their knowledge of the night sky and have telescopes set up for viewing of celestial wonders. A special astronomy presentation will be held at 8 PM.

1 PM “The Summer Solstice” –Learn about the first day of summer and the importance of this day
2 PM “Universe Scale” – Contemplating Distances to the Planets, Stars, and Galaxies

12 to 4 PM Solar Observing - Safely view the Sun through specially filtered telescopes.
The entrance fee of $7 per vehicle for Indiana residents ($9 out of state) is required for the Newton Stewart State Recreation Area at Patoka Reservoir.
Bring your kayak and join the naturalists for a night tour on Patoka Lake Saturday, July 28 from 8:30PM to 10PM. The tour will start and end at Painter Creek Boat Ramp on Highway 145.Enjoy the evening light of a full moon as you check out beautiful creek scenery and look for frogs, owls, and other nocturnal wildlife along the way. All participants are required to wear a lifejacket and each boat must have one front facing white flashlight or headlamp. Participants should plan to arrive to the ramp no later than 8:10p.m. to register for this free program. Non-motorized boat launch permits are required and will be sold at the event for $5, but may also be purchased at the Patoka Lake Office from 8:00a.m. – 4:00p.m. daily.
Bring your kayak and join the naturalists as you paddle upstream of Patoka Lake on Sunday, July 29th at 10:30A.M.This 2-hour adventure starts at the secluded King’s Bridge Boat Ramp.You can also meet the naturalists at the Patoka Lake Office to car caravan to the boat ramp.Caravan will leave promptly at 9:15A.M. Enjoy a morning on the waters of Patoka while looking for bald eagles, beaver and other wildlife as participants paddle their way to Grimes Lake Marsh. Bring preferred refreshments, life vests, binoculars and cameras. Non-motorized boat launch permits are required and will be sold at the event for $5, but may also be purchased at the Patoka Lake Office from 8:00a.m. -4:00p.m. daily.
An Indiana Hunter Ed. Course will be held Friday, Aug. 3 & Sat. Aug. 4 at the Chrisney 4-H Center Shooting Sports building.Attendance at both sessions is required to pass the course.You must bring a highlighter, drink of choice (water will be on hand) bring a snack.Lunch will be provided on Saturday about noon courtesy of the Dubois County Sportsmen’s Club.Dress for the weather.For more info contact Perry Frey at [email protected]
