Vernita Caroline Sitzman Nies, 84 of Mariah Hill

Vernita Caroline Sitzman Nies, 84 of Mariah Hill passed away Saturday July 14th at her home in Mariah Hill. Vernita was born November 10, 1933 to Frank & Mary (Lemmer) Miller. She was united in marriage to Ronald Sitzman on July 4, 1953 in Mary Help Of Christians Church in Mariah Hill. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1993. She then married George Nies on September 20, 2002.

Vernita was a lifelong member of Mary Help Of Christians Church, and its Ladies Sodality. She was a member of the Santa Claus Legion Post # 242 Auxillary and the Disabled American Veterans Auxillary. She was a homemaker and farmer.

Surviving are her husband, George Nies, One daughter, Karen Hildenbrand (Kenny) of Mariah Hill. Six grandchildren, Andrew Hildenbrand, Sarah Hanke, Adam Hildenbrand, Rachel Leibring, Todd Beier, and Jamie Beier. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Diana Beier, sisters, Adaline Fischer and Morina Schaefer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday July 18th at 10:00 AM Central in St. Francis Of Assisi Parish, Mary Help Of Christians Church. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
