Tommy L. "Tom" Foster, age 81 of Dubois
Tommy L. "Tom" Foster, age 81 of Dubois, Indiana, passed away at 5:14 am on Sunday September 5, 2021 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.
Tom was born in Alfordsville, Indiana to Arvel R. and Glen (Hedrick) Foster. He married Betty Lou Fischer on October 29, 1966 in St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2015.
He was a graduate of the Alfordsville High School Class of 1958.
Tom owned and operated Foster Shell service station in Dubois from 1969 to 1971. He also owned Foster and Son's auto reconditioning shop in Dubois, and drove a school bus for Northeast Dubois School Corporation. He retired as a field investigator for the State of Indiana BMV after 18 years of service.
He served as the president of the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department and was instrumental in the establishment of the local fire district. He was a member of the Dubois Ruritan Club, and the local Mustang car club.
He enjoyed selling used cars and golf carts, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Myron Foster, Ireland, IN, and Ryan Foster, Dubois, IN, two grandsons; Luke and Reid Foster, one great grandchild, Jayce Foster, one sister, Mable Lamb, Petersburg, and one brother, Donnie Foster, Washington, IN.
Preceding him in death besides his wife were two sisters, Sally Gotwalls and Mary Lou May, two brothers, Bobby and James Foster, and one half brother, John Foster.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Tommy L. Foster will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN.
