Susan “Sue” Neukam, age 59, of Celestine

Susan “Sue” Neukam, age 59, of Celestine, Indiana passed away at 2:35 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2023, at home surrounded by family.

Sue was born in Jasper, Indiana on February 20, 1964, to Norman E. and Betty J. (Humbert) Hassfurther. She married Tim Neukam on June 11, 1988, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana. He preceded her in death on March 24, 2015.

She was a 1982 Northeast Dubois High School graduate.  

Sue was a hard worker and a dedicated employee. Even through her chemotherapy treatments, she continued to go to work. Sue retired from Jasper Engines and Transmissions in February of 2023.

She was a member of St. Isadore Parish- St. Celestine Catholic Church where she was an active volunteer.  

Above all, Sue enjoyed spending time with family and making memories with her grandchildren. She loved being outside and camping. She and her husband took pride in their home and the life they built.

Sue is survived by; daughter; Stephany (Ben) Rasche, Dubois, son; Kyle (Virginia) Neukam, Paoli, three granddaughters; Chelsea and Kylie Neukam, and Emma Rasche, one grandson; Abe Rasche, mother; Betty Hassfurther, four sisters; Kathy Terwiskie, Julie (Jerry) Ebert, Amy (Fred) Lindauer, and Joni Hassfurther, three brothers; Gary (Lori) Hassfurther, Mike (Ann) Hassfurther, and Kurt (Sharon) Hassfurther.  

She is preceded in death by her husband, Tim Neukam, and father; Norman Hassfurther.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 4, 2023, at St. Isadore Parish- St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held on from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday August 3, 2023, at the Becher-Kluesner North chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Isadore Parish or the Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center.
