Shirley Ann Otto, age 86, of Huntingburg

Shirley Ann Otto, age 86, of Huntingburg, passed away at 7:55 p.m., Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at her home in Huntingburg.

She was born on July 31, 1935 to Walter and Belva (Whitsitt) Mutchman.  

Shirley graduated from Huntingburg High School in 1953 and married Donald L. Otto on June 29, 1957 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.  She worked as a receptionist for Dubois County Farm Bureau Co-op.  She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ.  Shirley was an animal lover, especially horses.  She and Don raised Arabian horses and named their farm “Wishing Well Arabians”.   While their land was being surveyed for the horse pasture, she called it “Arabian Acres”.  She and Don showed their horses at Indiana and Kentucky State Fairs.  

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Hilda Kunz; and a brother, Chester Mutchman.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Otto of Huntingburg; nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Shirley Otto will be held at 2:00 p.m. E.S.T., Monday, November 8, 2021 at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg.  Fr.
