Sharon Ridenour, age 81, of Birdseye

Sharon Ridenour, age 81, of Birdseye, Indiana, formerly of Freedom, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, at her home in Casa Grande, Arizona.

She was born on July 28, 1943, in Owen County, Indiana, to Wallace and Alma (Hoot) Walters. She married Sam E. Ridenour on October 3, 1981, in Brownsburg, Indiana. Sharon was an Elementary School teacher for over 30 years. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Birdseye Christian Church. She enjoyed feeding the deer, birds, and squirrels; gardening; and spending time with her family and Sorority sisters.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Ridenour, who passed away on February 19, 2015; her parents, Wallace and Alma Walters; one brother, Michael Walters; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Veneda and Eugene Schanck; and one step granddaughter.

She is survived by her son, Matthew Ridenour of Woodbury, TN; daughter, Shannon (Jonathan) Massie of Bell Buckle, TN; step sons, Rickey (Toni) Ridenour of Indianapolis, IN, Patrick (Cherie) Ridenour of Danville, IN and Keith Ridenour of Plainfield, IN; four step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Sharon Ridenour will be held at 11:00 am, E.D.T., on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Wickliffe Cemetery in Wickliffe, Indiana. Pastor Ron Hickman will officiate at the service.

Visitation will be held at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00-8:00 pm, E.D.T., on Friday, October 4th. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Birdseye Christian Church and the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be shared online at:  www.nassandson.com.
