Sharon Garrett, 83, of Loogootee

Sharon Garrett, 83, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023 at The Villages of Oak Ridge. 

She was born May 3, 1940 in Loogootee, Indiana to the late Louis and G. Laverne (Smiley) Gibson. 

Sharon married Larry Garrett in 1960 and he passed away in 1990.

She was a member of the Loogootee Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Sharon worked for 58 years for Spring Leaf as a loan officer. She loved to shop and go to the movies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Garrett; parents, Louis and Laverne Gibson; brothers, Junior (Annabell) Gibson and Woodie Gibson; niece, Sherry Gibson.

Sharon is survived by her brother, Ed (Judy) Gibson of Indianapolis; sister, Norma Cochran of Danville; nieces, Vicky Bauernfiend, Katherine Bishop, Barbara Shaffer, Rene Johnson, and Shelle Gerhart; niece and caregiver, Laura Downey; nephews, Rick Gibson, Mark Gibson, Randy Cochran, T.J. Cochran, Steve Cochran, and Robbie Cochran; and several great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 11th, 2023 at the Loogootee Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Goodwill Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 10th, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Loogootee Methodist Church. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Loogootee United Methodist Church.
