Ruth A. Witte, age 89, of Jasper

Ruth A. Witte, age 89, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away on her journey home surrounded by love at 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.

Ruth was born in Jasper, Indiana on December 1, 1934, to Joseph and Dorothy (Fehribach) Beyke. She married Mike Witte on June 29, 1961, in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Ruth was a devoted mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, and friend. She worked at R.J. Fuhs Insurance, Dairy Queen, and Parket Market. After her retirement, she was selflessly giving of her time, talent, and treasures.

She enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading, and playing bridge and rum. She loved entertaining for card club and always looked forward to her Friday Friends Dinner. She loved to travel, spend time at races and with her family. She was a proud mother, aunt, godmother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was past president of Phi Iota Xi sorority, member of the Daughters of Isabelle, and St. Anne Society for over 35 years. She was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Surviving is her husband of 62 years, Mike Witte; two children, Mick Witte (Mary) of Zionsville and Shaun Skerbitz (Jon) of Jasper; five grandchildren: Michael (Madeline), Ally, Anna Witte, and Christine, Sebastian Skerbitz; one great- grandchild, Cora; siblings: Edward Beyke (Mary Lou) of Jasper and Mary Helen Boyer of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, along with siblings and ‘outlaws’: Jerome and Dorothy Beyke, Martha and Ronald Ross, William Boyer, Dennis and Pat Beyke, Kathleen and Donald Zink, niece, Linda Boyer, and nephew, Timothy Kling.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth A. Witte will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper with entombment to follow at a later date in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 am (service time) at the church on Friday.
