Russell "Butch" Edward Farris, Jr., 73, of Jasper

Russell "Butch" Edward Farris, Jr., 73, of Jasper, Indiana entered into eternal rest on June 27th, 2021 at his residence.


He was born in Orange County, Indiana on September 16th, 1947 to Russell "Tom" E. Farris, Sr., and Betty Jane (Flick) Farris.

Butch married Patricia "Patty" Chestnut and she survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother David Lee Farris, infant son Daniel Edward Farris, son-in-law Matthew McGee, brother-in-law Alan Potts, father and mother-in-law Walter and Dorothy Chestnut, and step-mother-in-law Bonnie Chestnut.

Butch attended Springs Valley High School and served in Vietnam in the United States Army.

He had been employed at Indiana Handle Company and had also worked for the Town of French Lick and French Lick Sheraton Hotel.

Butch was a horse racing fan, enjoyed playing golf and bowling, and loved "fishing" at the French Lick Casino. He enjoyed watching westerns and Pacers and Colts games. Butch was also a big fan of Larry Bird and Tiger Woods.

Butch is survived by his wife Patricia "Patty" Farris, of Jasper, daughters Lisa Levi, of Orleans, and Teresa Magee, of Huntingburg. He is survived by step-son Tony Weber, of Coumbus, and four brothers; Michael "Mick" Farris, of West Baden Springs, Roy Dale Farris, of French Lick, Monty Farris, of Paoli, and Gary Farris, of Sheffield Lake, Ohio. He is survived by two sisters; Janie Merkel, of Celestine, and Cynda Potts, of Paoli. He is survived by three grandchildren, Brian Wininger, of Jasper, Catherine Wininger, of Huntingburg, and McKaylan Levi, of Orleans.

A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Craig Chestnut and Pastor Mike Newlin on Wednesday, June 30th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home with burial to follow at Mount Lebanon Cemetery.

Visitation for friends will be Wednesday, June 3oth, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hillham Church in Christian Union in French Lick, Indiana.
