Richard “Richie” Arvin, 73, of Loogootee, Indiana passed away at 9:17 a.m.
Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Poplar Care Strategies.
He was born April 26, 1951 in Loogootee, Indiana to the late Adrian and Magdalen
(Strange) Arvin.
Richie married Phyllis L. Keller on May 13, 1972 and she survives.
Richie started farming full-time in 1975 with his Dad and farmed until he passed
away. Prior to farming, Richie worked for Larkin Lumber and Doyle Lumber.
He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, St. Martin Men’s Club, and the
Knights of Columbus – Council 732, where he was a Third Degree Knight. Richie
helped with the Martin County 4-H for decades.
Richie is survived by his wife Phyllis Arvin of Loogootee; children, Carrie Arvin
of Loogootee and Corey (Ashley) Arvin of Plainfield; grandchildren, Izabella
Spears, Kirsten Spears, Maxwell Arvin, and Luke Arvin; siblings, Ron (Carol)
Arvin of Otwell, Gary (Beth) Arvin of Loogootee, Brenda Carrico of Loogootee,
Karen Mathias of Loogootee, Paul (Judy) Arvin of Loogootee, Diane (John) Dillon
of Oolitic, Jeff Arvin of Loogootee, and Brian Arvin (Joel Nitti) of Franklin,
Tennessee; aunt, Linda Hunter of Loogootee; uncle, Paul Leo Strange of
Loogootee; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Magdalen Arvin; nephew,
Adam Arvin; brother-in-law, Tim Carrico; and many aunts and uncles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at
10:00 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2024 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Whitfield.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 2 nd , 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Blake
Funeral Home in Loogootee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Vincent De Paul
Food Pantry.
