Pat Joseph Hurst, age 72, of St. Anthony
Pat Joseph Hurst, age 72, of St. Anthony, Indiana, passed away at 6:18 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Heart-to-Heart Hospice of Evansville, Indiana.
Pat was born on June 7, 1950 to Robert F. and Edna M. (Merkley) Hurst. He married Diane M. Weyer on June 19, 1971 at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand, Indiana. She preceded him in death on April 3, 2020.
Pat was a 1968 graduate of Jasper High School. He received his bachelor’s degree at Oakland City College.
He served in the Indiana National Guard as a Staff Sergeant in the Jasper unit HHC 1-152 and retired after 22 years of service.
He worked in the construction industry most of his life for Hurst and Son Construction, Benthall Brothers and Ace Roofing and Construction.
He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish- St. Anthony Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1131, 4th Degree Knight Assembly 253, the St. Anthony Community Center, the American Legion Post #493.
Pat enjoyed following his grandchildren in their activities and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by five children; Joseph (Lana) Hurst, Princeton, IN, Suzanne “Sue” (Hurst), Evansville, IN, Karen (Sean) Strahl, Boonville, IN, Michael (Kaytlin) Hurst, US Army, and Kristine (Craig) Breitwieser, Velpen, IN, 8 grandchildren; Katherine “Katie” Hurst, Allyssa Strahl, Emily Strahl, Jennifer Breitwieser, Elijah Hurst, Lucille Hurst, Joshua Hurst, and Andrew Hurst, one sister; Phyllis (John) Rickelman of St. Anthony, IN.
Preceding him in death are his parents; Robert and Edna Hurst and his wife, Diane Hurst.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Pat Joseph Hurst will be held at 10:00 a.m. (EST) on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony, Indiana. A burial will follow in the church cemetery. The American Legion Post #493 will perform military graveside rites.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. (EST) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel on Friday, August 12, 2022 and one hour before service time at the church on Saturday, August 13th. The Fourth Degree Knights Honor Guard Assembly 251 will be standing guard throughout the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Divine Mercy Parish- St. Anthony Catholic Church or to the American Legion Post #493.
