Norbert A. “Pete” Klem, age 93, of St. Anthony

Norbert A. “Pete” Klem, age 93, of St. Anthony, Indiana, passed away at 9:42 a.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Scenic Hills at the Monastery, in Ferdinand, Indiana surrounded by family.  

Norbert was born in St. Anthony, Indiana on December 19, 1927 to Frank A. and Agnes (Drach) Klem.  He married Clara Mae Werne on September 27, 1952.   

Norbert retired from JOFCO after 49 years where he worked in the machine department.   

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish- St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Anthony American Legion Post #493, St. Anthony Community Center, St. Anthony Conservation Club and St. Anthony Holy Name Society.  

He enjoyed gardening, yardwork, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.  

Surviving is his wife of 69 years, Clara Mae Klem, of St. Anthony, IN, two daughters; Cynthia Braun and companion Steve Hopster, both of Jasper, IN, Karen (Roman) Wendholt, of Bretzville, IN, one son; Randy (Sandy) Klem, of Bretzville, IN, seven grandchildren; Jamie Arbo, Jill Crane, Megan and Bryce Klem, Adam Wendholt, Kristina Oehlman and Kelsey Tjeerdsma, seven great-grandchildren; Laura, Elizabeth and Nathan Arbo, Caidence Crane, Greyson and Kellen Oehlman and Beckett Tjeerdsma.   

Preceding him in death were three sisters; Ruth Harris, Dorothy Souders and Amelia Wehr.   

A Mass of Christian Burial for Norbert A. “Pete” Klem will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The American Legion Post #493 will conduct military graveside rites.  

A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time at the church on Saturday, November 6, 2021. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Divine Mercy Parish- Saint Anthony Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
