He was born on October 17, 1970, in Noblesville, Indiana to Milton Prater and Martha Newlin. James married Kathy Butt on October 14, 1989.

He was preceded in death by his parents Milton Prater and Martha Newlin

Milton James Prater was a US Marine Corp Veteran.

He attended Orleans Wesleyan Church. James was formerly employed with the Town of Paoli. James was currently self-employed as a construction worker.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, January 3, 2022, at the Dillman-Scott Funeral Home, located at 226 W. Campbell Street, Paoli, IN 47454. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service on Monday.
