Melba C. Montgomery, age 68, of Huntingburg, passed away at 10:00 p.m., on Friday, April 20, 2018, at The Waters of Huntingburg.
She was born September 29, 1949, in Duff, Indiana to Orville “Jum” and Catherine E. (Nolan) Lemond. She worked as a nursing center dietary aide in Jasper and was a member of Redemption Christian Church in Jasper. Melba enjoyed bowling in the Thursday Night Women’s Bowling League and playing bingo and cards at the Huntingburg Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville Lemond and Catherine Lemond Miller; five brothers, William, Joseph, Peter N., Edward T., and Robert E. Lee Lemond; and great granddaughter, Jocelyn Demitt.
Melba is survived by five children, Gary (Anita) Montgomery Jr. of Hudson, Florida, Cheryl (Keith) Cross of Owensboro, Kentucky, Christina (Jeff) West of Ithaca, New York, Amanda (Charles) Taylor of Loogootee, and Christopher Wilz of Otwell; eight siblings, James L. (Cordelia Uppencamp) Lemond of Huntingburg, Oscar S. Lemond of Newburgh, Albert E. Lemond of Mount Carmel, Illinois, Erwin C. Lemond of Birdseye, Margaret E. Brown of Huntingburg, Esther M. Peach of Mount Carmel, Illinois, Mary A. (Wilfred) Bohnert of Huntingburg, and Henrietta B. (James) Toby of Huntingburg; by (20) grandchildren and (20) great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Melba Montgomery will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Redemption Christian Church in Jasper with burial to follow at Mayo Cemetery in Duff. Minister Ryan Stiles will officiate at the service.
Friends may call for visitation at the Redemption Christian Church from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, the day of the funeral. Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
