Matilda “Tillie” Burger, age 92 of Jasper

Matilda “Tillie” Burger, age 92 of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2019, in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper with her family by her side.
 
She was born at St. Anthony, Indiana on April 24, 1926 to Martin and Rose (Schnell) Leisman.  She married Elmer Burger on October 26, 1948 in St. Anthony Catholic Church, St.  Anthony, Indiana. He preceded her in death on December 23, 2004.
Tillie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Anne Society, Daughters of Isabella and the V.F.W. Auxiliary to Post # 673 in Jasper.
She retired from Aristo-Kraft Furniture Company in Jasper.
She enjoyed gardening, playing cards and country music and loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

One daughter, Donna English (Robert), Vincennes, IN
One son, Elmer A. Burger Jr., Jasper, IN
Two grandchildren, Tracy Sayles (Chris) and Michael English.
Two great grandchildren, Ariana and Darrius .
One sister, Dorothy Sherman, Jasper, IN
Preceding her in death besides her husband are three sisters, Rita Leisman , Mary Doherty Rottet and Roseleana Waninger and one brother Albert Leisman.  One daughter-in-law, Donna Burger.
Mass of Christian Burial for Matilda Burger will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April  23, 2019, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
Friends may call from 2-8 P.m. Monday, April 22, 2019, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.  A rosary service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday by the St. Ann’s Society and the D of I’s.  V.F.W. Auxiliary will have a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
