Mary Alice Ackerman, age 79, of Jasper

Mary Alice Ackerman, age 79, of Jasper, Indiana, was called to eternal rest at 8:50 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by family.

Mary was born in Jasper, Indiana, on August 27, 1944, to Lester and Florentine (Gramelspacher) Pinnick.  She married her high school sweetheart, David Ackerman on November 24, 1962, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.  He preceded her in death on August 14, 1988.

She was a 1962 graduate of Jasper High School.

She was a homemaker, a teller at Springs Valley Bank, and a framer for the Gallery in Jasper.

Mary was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, and was on their bereavement committee.  She was a member of the Dubois County Saddle Club.
She enjoyed shopping, taking trips with her friends to the ocean, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Brian (Andrea) Ackerman, Ireland, IN, Bret (Lauri) Ackerman, Jasper, IN, and Natalie (Bret) Collignon, Jasper, IN, nine grandchildren, Nick (fiancé Meagan) Ackerman, Kristen (Patrick) Sullivan, and Luke Ackerman, David Ackerman, Rachel Ackerman, Sarah (Cal) Krueger, and Elizabeth Ackerman, and Levi Schwartz and Hunter Schwartz, one great granddaughter, Rilyn Krueger, and two sisters, Carol McNeil and Debbie (Dan) Higdon.
Preceding her in death besides her husband is one sister, Patricia Stork.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Sam, her nurse with Gentiva Hospice, and also Lindsey, her CNA, and Maddie, her nurse at Legacy Living in Jasper.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Alice Ackerman will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with entombment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass time at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or the American Alzheimer’s Association.
