Mary A. Wehr, age 96, of Ireland

Mary A. Wehr, age 96, of Ireland, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana. 

Mary was born in Storm Lake, Iowa, on September 20, 1925, to Theodore and Berendina (Arnts) Teube.  She married Arthur Stempf on August 4, 1946. He preceded her in death in October 16, 1976.  Her second marriage was to Joseph H. Wehr on June 4, 1983. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1997.  

Mary was a crane operator and later drove school buses for the Dubois County Public School Corporation.  

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, their St. Ann’s Society, and the Lucky Four-Leaf Homemakers Club. 

Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, and quilting.   

Surviving are two daughters; Jeanette Day, Jasper, IN and Sandra (Jerry) Hood, Oklahoma City, OK, two-step daughters; Kathy Rinderknecht, Jasper, IN, Kris James, Ferdinand, IN, two sons; Thomas (Alice), Rutherford, IN and David Stempf, Oklahoma City, OK, 10 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 6 step great-grandchildren, 17 great-great- grandchildren. 

Preceding her in death besides her husbands are; one son, James Stempf, three stepsons; Kenneth, Randall, and Alan Wehr, and one sister; JoAnna Malvitz.  

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary A. Wehr will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022, in St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, with burial to follow in Alfordsville Cemetery in Loogootee, IN. 

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Monday, April 11th.
