Mark Marshall, 60, Huntingburg

In loving memory of Mark Marshall, who passed away at the age of 60 on January 7, 2024. Mark died at home from complications from a workplace accident that he suffered just before Christmas. 

Those who causally knew him were keenly aware that he was perpetually annoyed. If you truly knew him, you knew that he cared passionately about family, friends, and his Wonder Woman bride of 12-years, Paula Marshall.  

Mark had strong opinions about life, being a man, a husband, a brother, a father, an uncle a friend and a conservative. He lived and shared those opinions freely and with powerful conviction. He was even known to share his opinions with random strangers. 

He believed strongly that the first measure of a man was a strong handshake and direct eye contact. The amount of respect and love he had for you was directly correlational to how much he “picked” on you. If Mark was making fun of you or telling you how to live your life, know that you had found a place in his heart. 

He had a love for and collected beautiful art deco fixtures and furniture. He felt that everyone should conduct themselves in a manner befitting those art deco days of the 1930s. Men should wear a suit and tie to weddings and funerals. People should dress up for dinner. He had been known to call out those who showed up at such occasions in shorts or sweats. 

At an early age, he developed a love for superheroes and sports celebrities. He spent 45 years collecting memorabilia and autographs. Filling his basement and two storage units to capacity. In 2019 purchased a dental office, In Huntingburg, Indiana, and he, along with his wife Paula, and a host of friends converted it into Marshall’s Mancave. He filled the Mancave with his collection and began selling it.  

His wife Paula transformed his world. Bringing light and a positive perspective to a man who could be easily drawn into darkness. Paula’s conviction for seeing possibilities and the positive helped Mark to soften and enjoy life. 

His daughter from his first marriage, Ellie, looks just like him. He had a complicated and estranged relationship with Ellie. He loved her from afar and was incredibly proud of the woman she became. 

Mark truly loved his work. While with INDOT, he oversaw the construction of the southern Indiana phase of I-69. Working for VS Engineering, he oversaw the revitalization of downtown Huntingburg. He was incredibly proud of both. 

Born on Christmas Day 1963 to Jerry and Marilyn Marshall. He was a 1982 graduate of Princeton Community High School. 

Mark will be deeply missed by his wife Paula, brother Mike (Sharon), stepbrother Jeff Jewell, nieces and nephews as well as his extended family, friends, and his beloved dogs Stitch and Mr. Jones.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dubois County Humane Society in honor of Mark Marshall's memory. 

A memorial visitation for Mark will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Mark’s life.  

His funeral will be held the following day, on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
