
Mabel Delores (Sorrells) Ragsdale, 90, of Shoals
Mabel Delores (Sorrells) Ragsdale, 90, of Shoals, passed away on Thursday, February
20, 2025.
Born April 23, 1934, in Shoals, she was the daughter of Lee James and Marguerite
(Bledsoe) Sorrells. Delores attended Shoals High School.
Together with her husband, Carleton, and her parents, they owned and operated Bo-
Macs from August of 1960 until April of 2006, working 7 days a week from 6 A.M. until
the last person went home for nine and a half months out of the year.
She married Cecil Carleton Ragsdale on April 14, 1951, and he preceded her in death on
January 27, 2007.
Delores was a member of the Shoals United Methodist Church; a charter member of the
American Legion Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary in Shoals; served on the Shoals
Community Schools School Board; and her and her husband were the Grand Marshalls
of the 2003 Shoals Catfish Festival Parade.
She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, sewing, making numerous homemade quilts,
baking, cooking, reading, and going dancing with her husband, Carleton.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Cecil Lee (Dianna) Ragsdale,
Sherylene (Larry) Phillips, and Denise (Pat) Garrett; grandchildren, January Roush,
Camille (Scott) Burnes, Hannah (Steve) Jewell, Nicholas (Brooklyn) Schnarr, Dustin
(Kelly) Schnarr, Jordan Schnarr, Gil (Brooke) Garrett, Audrey (Chad) Gibson, Olivia
Garrett, Adam Divine, Alex (Erica) Divine, and Evan (Lori) Divine; great-grandchildren,
Dalton Roush, Carter Roush, Lydia Burnes, Peyton Burnes, Aliza Jewell, Sophia Jewell,
Sophia Schnarr, Lily Schnarr, Charlie Schnarr, Riley Jones, Stella Schnarr, Knisley
Schnarr, Kendall Schnarr, Colt Garrett, Sawyer Annie Garrett, Tripp Garrett, Ada
Gibson, Jack Gibson, Ella Mae Gibson, Josephine Garrett, Ava Divine, Henry Divine,
Chloe Divine, Stella Divine, Elouise Divine, Caroline Divine, Everett Divine, Flynn
Divine, and Milo Divine; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carleton; daughter, Bonita
Ragsdale; siblings, one brother in infancy, Edmond Lee Sorrells, Harold (Alyne)
Sorrells, and Kenneth (Mary Jo) Sorrells; and her 2 loving pets, Kipper and Sydnee
Layne.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Queen-Lee
Chapel of George Funeral Care with Charles Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow in
Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:30 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Friday, February 28, 2025, and from 10
A.M. until the service hour on Saturday at the Queen-Lee Chapel, Shoals.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Martin County Humane Society or the
Shoals Little League.
