Leon Baker, 94, of Odon
Leon Baker, 94, of Odon, passed away at 2:22 a.m. Sunday, September 18, 2022 at
Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was born March 2, 1928 in Wheatland, Indiana to the late Harold and Emma
(Smith) Baker.
Leon married Anna Lee Gillie on March 25, 1946 and shared 71 years of marriage
until her death on April 25, 2017.
He was a United States Navy veteran and served on active duty during the World
War II era. Leon was a long-time employee of Prairie Farm Dairy and retired as a
Branch Manager. He was a member of the Loogootee Christian Church. He loved
Loogootee High School basketball and volleyball. Leon attended as many games
as he could until his health would no longer allowed.
Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee Baker; daughter, Jeanne Baker;
parents, Harold and Emma Baker; brothers, Jerry (Jerry) Baker and Dean (Deanna)
Baker.
He is survived by his son, Van (Sherre) Baker of Bedford; brother, Sam (Sandy)
Baker of Vincennes; grandsons, Nathan (Maidie) Baker of Bradenton, Florida and
Todd (Blair) Baker of Loogootee; great-grandchildren, Evan Baker, Jared Baker,
Morgan Meckley, Samantha Baker, Burke Baker and Willa Baker; great-great
granddaughter, Emersyn Baker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2022 at
the Loogootee Christian Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in
Vincennes.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00
p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Loogootee Christian
Church.
