Leo A. Wahl, 87, of Ferdinand

Leo A. Wahl, 87, of Ferdinand passed away Tuesday January 3, 2023 at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. Leo was born December 19, 1935 in Warrick County to Bernard and Ruth (Springston) Wahl. His first wife Barbara McDaniel died in 1967. He then was united in marriage to Edwina Kloeck on June 15, 1968 in Saint Ferdinand Church. 

Leo was a member of Christ the King Parish, Saint Ferdinand Church. He retired as a self-employed barber in 2020 after 52 years. Leo was an avid Forest Park Ranger Fan, and a long time player of Lineament League Softball. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Leo was an Army Veteran and a member of Ferdinand Legion Post 124. 

Surviving are his wife, Edwina Wahl, two sons, Chris (Tina) Wahl of Ferdinand and Steve (Kim) Wahl of Evansville. Two daughters, Lea Ann (Jan) Olinger and Donna (David A.) Ernst both of Jasper. Fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Leo was preceded in death by two sons, Scott and Terry Wahl, five brothers, Albert, Carl, Bernard, Andrew, and Russel Wahl, and three sisters, Catherine Memmer, Mary Tormohlen, and Mildred Memmer. 

A mass of Christian burial will be Friday January 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM in Saint Ferdinand Church, burial will follow in the church cemetery. Ferdinand Legion Post 124 will conduct military services. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 AM until the service time. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ferdinand Parish, Sisters of St. Benedict, Saint Meinrad Arch-Abbey or a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com.
