Kathryn Waynette Pankey age 80

Kathryn Waynette Pankey breathed her first breath in heaven on February 27th, 2025, at Poplar Care surrounded by her beloved family with her sister singing to her.

Waynette was the eldest child of Carl W and Rose McGuire Fish born on September 12 1944. Waynette was a graduate from St John’s Highschool class of 1962. In September 15 1962 she married James E Pankey. Waynette lived in many states throughout her lifetime and held various jobs. Her final job was spent with 21 years at Walmart where she retired from. She was a devout member of St John’s Catholic Church. She was involved in being a lector, Eucharistic Minister and taking Communion to the homebound until her health declined. She was a member of The Daughters of Isabella where she served as regent for 2 years.

Waynette was the historian of our family. Her memory and recall were far beyond incredible. We will miss the plethora of knowledge she took with her. Waynette loved people and loved to talk with them, tell a joke or two (bad or good). She enjoyed spending time with her beloved Mother-in-law shopping, lunches, going for drives and visiting cemeteries, putting flowers on their graves and visiting with family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards with her 1962 classmates weekly. As her health took a turn she prayed for and comforted many people in her path and those she didn’t even know. She was a great prayer warrior.

Waynette is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Rose Fish, a sibling Maryann Fish, her husband Jim Pankey, her in laws Russ and Virginia Pankey.

She is survived by her son Jim D Pankey who was her pride and joy (Evansville, In) her grandson Thomas (Sam) Pankey, Honolulu, Hawaii great granddaughters Violet and Maive. Siblings Karen (Jack) Inman Loogootee, Greg (Mary Ann) Fish Cannelburg, Kathye Henninger Loogootee, Rhonda (Frank) Micucci Greenwood. Brother-in-law Junie Vogler Jasper. Many beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored. Many cousins whom she kept in touch with regularly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 11:00 A.M Tuesday March 4, 2025, at 11:00 A.M at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on the same day from 9:00 A.M until 10:45 A.M at the Church.
