Kathleen Alma Nelson, age 82 of Jasper

Kathleen Alma Nelson, age 82 of Jasper, IN, passed away at 8:18 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.

Kathleen was born on June 19, 1938 to Louis and Alma (Vollmer) Yochum.

Kathleen grew up on a small family farm. She attended St. John's Lutheran Church and school. She graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to receive her Associates Degree in Medical Technology through Vincennes University.   

Kathleen was a laboratory medical technologist retiring in 2001 with 33 years of service at Memorial Hospital, where she worked alongside many good friends.

She is a member and enjoyed worshiping at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jasper since 1986.

Kathleen loved flowers and beautiful gardens. She looked forward to each Spring and choosing all the colors and varieties of blooms which she would enjoy arranging on her patio garden and front porch. Now she is in the most beautiful garden she has ever seen.

She shared many happy days with her grandchildren, two sons, and family. Kathleen was an anchor and foundation for her family and was always there to support and encourage them all. They are most thankful to have had such a wonderful mother and grandmother all these years.

Surviving are two sons; Andrew (Ann) Nelson, Elberfeld, IN and Christian (Heather) Nelson, Winslow, IN, seven grandchildren; Madison, Grace, Macy, Ethan, Nate, Gabe, and Lincoln.

Preceding her in death were her parents and dear brother, Carl Yochum.

A funeral service for Kathleen Alma Nelson will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jasper. Pastor Adam Ruschau will officiate.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the 11:00 am service time at the church on Saturday, March 20, 2021.

A burial will be held at a later date.

Masks and social distancing will be required.
