Joseph H. Ziegler, age 88 of Bloomington
Joseph H. Ziegler, age 88 of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 10:35 a.m. on Monday, April 12, 2021 in Bloomington, Indiana after a nine month battle with Leukemia.
Joe was born in Dubois, Indiana on May 24, 1932 to John W. and Emily E. (Neukam) Ziegler. He married Mary Fritch on May 11, 1991 in Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, IN.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Bloomington, Indiana after many years of service.
Joe was a U.S. Army Veteran, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major. He was a member of the American Legion Post #147 and the VFW Post #673 in Jasper. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 18 Burton Woolery in Bloomington.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Bloomington and the National Federal Retiree's Association.
Surviving is his wife; Mary V. Ziegler of Bloomington, one daughter; Laura J. Stull (Tim), Bloomington, one step daughter; Geralyn Heichelbech, Huntingburg, one step son; Joe Fritch (Lorri), Evansville, six grandchildren; Levi, Luke, and Lily Stull, and Olivia, Tanner, and Owen Fritch, one sister; Georgia Schneider, Dubois, one niece and several nephews.
Preceding him death was one son; John Ziegler, two brothers; Charlie Ziegler and Levi "Butch" Ziegler, and one son-in-law; Lee Heichelbech.
Funeral services for Joseph H. Ziegler will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2021 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Bloomington, Indiana. Pastor Eric Edwards will officiate. Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27, at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery at the Dubois Crossroads. The VFW Post #673 will conduct military graveside rites.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at Faith Lutheran Church on Monday, and then from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.
Masks and social distancing will be required for the visitation and service at the church on Monday.
