Joseph D. Phillips, age 82, of Jasper

Joseph D. Phillips, age 82, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 12:38 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023, surrounded by family in The Waters of Huntingburg in Huntingburg, Indiana. 

Joe was born in Columbus, Indiana, on September 14, 1940, to Paul and Lillian (Street) Phillips.  He married Georgiane Fleck on February 1, 1969. 

He was a high school graduate and served in the United States Army. 

He retired from Masterbrand where he had worked for 37 years. 

He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #673, American Legion Post #147, and the Jasper Moose. 

Joe enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, watching NASCAR and I.U., collecting NASCAR die casts, and spending time with family and friends. 

Surviving are his wife Georgiane Phillips, Jasper, IN, four children, Paula (Paul) Stone, Washington, IN, Joe Jr. (Connie) Phillips, Washington, IN, Frank Phillips, Loogootee, IN, Paul (Shanda) Phillips, New Castle, IN, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. 

Preceding him in death are two sisters, Betty Graber and Patty Beyer, and one brother, Roger Phillips. 

A funeral service for Joseph D. Phillips will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.  Pastor Ryan Stiles will officiate. The V.F.W. Post #673 will conduct military rites at the funeral home and the Jasper Moose will conduct a ritual at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Inurnment will follow at a later date. 

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the 7:00 p.m. service time at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel on Wednesday.
