John Walter Hoffhaus, age 79, of Jasper

He was born October 28, 1940, in Huntingburg, to Walter W. and Wima V. (Lichlyter) Hoffhaus. John married Jean Chriswell in Las Vegas, Nevada. He graduated from Huntingburg High School and worked as an Oilfield Foreman. John served in the United States Airforce; and loved the outdoors, especially fishing, boating and camping. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Hoffhaus; his parents; and one daughter, Debbie Hoffhaus. 

He is survived by two children, Dennis D. (Debbie) Pratte of Chesapeake, Virginia and Cindy L. (Norb) Schreiner of Jasper; one sister, Helen (George) Astrike of Destin, Florida; 6 grandchildren, 8 great- grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and by nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service for John Walter Hoffhaus will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Palm Henderson Cemetery in Henderson, Nevada. Nass & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements. Condolences may be shared online at: www.nassandson.com
