John Knepp, 73, of Montgomery
John Knepp, 73, of Montgomery, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, June 27, 2021
at Independent Village in Fishers.
He was born April 23, 1948 in Daviess County, Indiana to the late Ezra and Edith
(Wagler) Knepp.
John married Maria (Duncheon) Knepp on June 5, 1971 and she preceded him in
death on June 18, 2020.
John was a proud educator at Loogootee High School and taught drivers’ education
and shop for 30 years. He loved his grandchildren, Barr-Reeve sports, and
competitive bass fishing. John was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and
the Indiana State Teacher Association.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Patrick Knepp; wife, Maria Knepp;
parents, Ezra and Edith (Wagler) Knepp; brother-in-law, Richard Schrock.
John is survived by his children, Jon-Jon (Jennifer) Knepp of Fishers, Jeremy
(Natalie) Knepp of Montgomery, Justin (Ara) Knepp of Fishers and Mimi (Scott)
Hoyer of Fishers; grandchildren, Beatrice, Walker, Eleanor and Holden Knepp,
Sophia, Dominic, Maverick and Barrett Knepp, Beckham, Ryker and Kyler Knepp,
Penelope, Conrad, Jude and Roland Hoyer; siblings, Vernon (Nancy) Knepp of
Montgomery, Mary Catherine “Cap” (Dave) Stutzman of Sarasota, Florida, Shirley
(Gary) Stutzman of Sarasota, Florida, Sue Schrock of Montgomery, Jean (Tom)
Renno of Sarasota, Lee (Lynn) Knepp of Montgomery, Sharon (Eugene) Yancey
of Sarasota and Ruth Ann Rentie of San Jose, California; many nieces and
nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Sudhakar Bhastati at 10:00
a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Montgomery. Burial
will follow in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at
St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Montgomery and Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 9:00
a.m. until the time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Daviess County Right to Life or
St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
