John D. Hickman, 93, of Loogootee

He was born January 1 st , 1931, in Loogootee, Indiana to the late John Harrison and Ethel (Clements) Hickman. John married Norma Anne (Wagner) Hickman on August 7 th , 1950. She preceded him in death November 27, 1976. John married Frances Hawkins on July 31 st , 1986. She preceded him in death September 15, 2002. 

He is survived by his daughters, Karen Hickman of Shoals and Kelly (Matt) Bridgwater of Loogootee; son, Scott Hickman of Loogootee; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Steven Hickman and Michael Lee Hickman; one daughter, Margaret Rose Hickman; parents, John Harrison and Ethel (Clements) Hickman, three brothers, James Daniel Hickman, Charles Merle Hickman, and Joseph Harrison Hickman; two sisters, Mary Emma Gibson and Hazel Krodel. John retired from National Gypsum on February 1 st , 1994, after 39 years of employment. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. 

John was a Gold Star Father.  He lost his oldest son, Thomas Steven Hickman, while in Vietnam. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, June 7, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church.
