JoAnn Mundy, age 80, of Huntingburg

JoAnn Mundy, age 80, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 6:30 a.m., on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Brookside Village nursing home in Jasper.

She was born May 8, 1941, in Jasper, to Herman and Anna (Hoffman) Gadlage; and married James J. Mundy on September 14, 1963, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.  JoAnn was a 1959 graduate of Jasper High School; and worked as a secretary/treasurer at Maple Park and Huntingburg Elementary schools for 33 years.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, the St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality and Huntingburg Business and Professional’s Women Organization.  She enjoyed shopping and playing cards, she had played “Penny Poker” with a group of high school friends for over 50 years.  JoAnn would volunteer at Shared Abundance and St. Mary’s Catholic Church meals; and was part of the church prayer chain.  She loved her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed watching them in sporting events.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James J. Mundy, who passed away on January 19, 2012; and two brothers and sister-in-law’s, Gene and Marge Gadlage and Charles and Virginia Gadlage.

She is survived by two sons, Jeff (Jeannine) Mundy of Huntingburg and John (Lori) Mundy of Huntingburg; one daughter, Joni (Jason) Lynch of Dubois; one brother, Rich (Pat) Gadlage of Jasper; and by eight grandchildren, Madison, Carson, Luke, Jacob, Mitchell, Tyler, Andrea and Sophie.

Funeral services for JoAnn Mundy will be held at 12:00 p.m., E.S.T., on Monday, February 21, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  Father Biju Thomas will officiate the service.

Friends may call for visitation at St. Mary’s Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., on Monday, prior to the service.  All services will be held at the church.
