Janice Kay Courter, 76, of Loogootee

She was born October 13, 1945, in Vincennes, Indiana to the late Louis and Helen (Meyer) Buckthal. 

Janice was a member of the Loogootee United Methodist Church. She played the piano and organ at various churches throughout the years. Her Christian faith and music were a very special part of Janice’s life. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Helen Buckthal; brother, Frank Buckthal; sister-in-law, Diane Buckthal. 

Janice is survived by her sons, Brent (Melissa) Courter of Loogootee and Jeff Courter of Lafayette, California; grandchildren, Kyleigh and Breanna Courter and Lily and Noah Courter; brother, Allen Buckthal of Freelandville; sister-in-law, Vicky Buckthal of Freelandville. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2022, at Bethel Church, 13673 E. State Road 58, Edwardsport, Indiana 47528. 

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, March 25, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Loogootee United Methodist Church or Bethel Church.
