James W. "Speed" Kreilein, age 88, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at home.
Speed was born in Jasper, Indiana, on October 31, 1932, to Louis and Clara (Scherle) Kreilein. He married Beverly "Betty" Wilder on May 3, 1958, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.
Speed was a United States Army Veteran.
He previously worked for Hoffman Brothers as a mechanic and then retired from Indiana Desk.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.
Speed enjoyed making walking sticks and canes, and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Beverly "Betty" Kreilein, Jasper, IN, one son, Tim (Sharon) Kreilein, St. Anthony, IN, two grandchildren, Corey (Jenna) Kreilien, Travis (Korin) Royer, two great grandchildren, Blair and Dax Kreilein, and four nieces.
Preceding him in death is one sister, Betty Schwenk.
A Mass of Christian Burial for James W. "Speed" Kreilein will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana. Masks and social distancing will be required. American Legion Post #147 will conduct military grave site rights.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church or to Kindred Hospice.
