Ida Anna Maffenbeier, 103, of Ferdinand
Ida Anna Maffenbeier, 103, of Ferdinand passed away Tuesday November 19th at Brookside Village in Jasper. Ida was born May 25, 1916 in Mariah Hill to Leo F. & Philomena “Minnie” (Mehling) Wagner. She was united in marriage to Linus John Maffenbeier on July 4, 1950 in Mary Help Of Christians Church in Mariah Hill. Linus preceded her in death on December 10, 2009.
Ida was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church and the St. Ann’s Sodality. She was a homemaker and a volunteer at many local nursing homes. She was a prayer warrior. Ida enjoyed reading, sewing, decorating and her flowers.
Surviving are one daughter, Pat (Mark) Evans of Santa Claus. One son Mike (La Donna) Maffenbeier of Jasper. Five grandchildren, Julie (Scott) Schnell, John B. Evans, Jeffrey A. (Emily) Evans, Rachael Prepster, and Adam (Kirsten) Maffenbeier. Nine great-grandchildren also survive. Ida was preceded in death by six sisters, Marie Wagner, Lena Laws, Loretta Ringenberg, Julie Chester, Agnes Smalley and Martha Wagner. Three brothers, Andrew, Henry and Hugo Wagner.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday November 26, 2019 at 10:00 AM in Saint Ferdinand Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand on Monday from 4 to 8:00 PM and Tuesday from 8 to 9:30 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to The Sisters of St. Benedict or a favorite charity.
