Harry Knepp, 96, of Montgomery

Harry Knepp, 96, of Montgomery, IN passed away at 1:23 P.M, Saturday, April 14, 2017 at his home.

He was born on February 24, 1922 in Daviess County to Joel and Elizabeth (Graber) Knepp.

As a young man, Harry served God and his country for 4 and a half years through CPS- Civilian Public Service. Harry married Anna Mae (Swartzentruber) Knepp on October 25, 1947 and she preceded him in death on April 17, 2016. He was a member of the Berea Mennonite Church. Harry was instrumental in starting meat canning, and helping with the local relief sale for MCC- Mennonite Central Committee, MDA- Mennonite Disaster Service, and Mennonite Mutual Aid. He was a lifelong farmer and a Dairyman, and he loved God’s Creation. Harry started Hillcrest Supply Inc. in 1973, and ran the business until 2015 when he retired. He was an author and wrote the book, “The Servant’s Heart.”

He is preceded by his wife, Anna Mae Knepp, his parents, Joel and Elizabeth, and his sisters and their spouses; Lilly (David) Yoder, and Marie (Leroy) Overholt.

The Lord blessed them with eight children, Sue (Bobby) Hedrick of Cannelburg, Rita (Allen) Stutzman of Cannelburg, Jean (Delmer) Graber of Washington, Diane (Dale) Miller of Montgomery, Steve (Darlene) Knepp of Cannelburg, Marilyn (Mark) Craney of Noblesville, Richard (Barb) Knepp of Montgomery and Sherry (Ron) Weaver of Sarasota, FL; 21 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and his sister Ruth Overholt of Sarasota, FL, his sister- in- laws and brother – in - laws; Ruth and Ray Marner of Kalona, IA, Helen Swartzentruber of Montgomery, IN, and Joe Swartzentruber of Phoenix, AZ, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Berea Mennonite Church in Cannelburg. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 2:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M and Wednesday from 9:00 A.M until 10:00 A.M.
