Harold Lee Dant Sr., 81, of Loogootee

Harold Lee Dant Sr., 81, of Loogootee, passed away at 3:58 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center. 

He was born February 25, 1942 in Daviess County, Indiana to the late James Glen and Mary Juanita (Padgett) Dant.

Harold married Brenda Mae Fisher on April 23, 1960 and she survives. 

He was instrumental in helping to grow Martin County Farm Bureau Co-Op into the five county White River Co-Op by the time of his retirement in 2006. 

Harold served for 15 years on the Agri Insurance Exchange Risk Retention Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Glen and Mary Juanita Dant; sisters, Helen Ellis and Mary Rose (Bob) McGuire; grandson-in-law, James Northcutt.

Harold is survived by his wife, Brenda Mae Dant of Loogootee; children, Harold L. Jr. “Sonny” (Nancy) Dant of Odon, Ronnetta Faye Shake of Huntingburg, and James LeRoy (Crystal) Dant of Washington; grandchildren, Audra Mae (Barney) O’Neill, Ashton Lee Northcutt, Deric John Lee (Ashley) Shake, D’Andrea Dawn (Allen) Stoll, Deven Bruce (Alisha) Shake, Alexis Danyelle Dant; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Marcella (Phil) Flint of Washington; brother-in-law, Bill Ellis. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 23, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee and Monday, October 23, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. John Catholic Cemetery, St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, or Raglesville Cemetery.
