Gerald "Jerry" Bartley, age 79 of Jasper
Gerald "Jerry" Bartley, age 79 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 11:25 a.m. on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at The Timbers of Jasper.
Jerry was born in Ireland, Indiana on April 14, 1939 to Lawrence and Catherine (Weidenbenner) Bartley. He married his wife of 58 years, Rosie Seger on January 14, 1960 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He owned and operated Bartley and Company Feed Mill in Ferdinand and was the former owner of Bartley's Hearing Aid Center in Jasper.
Jerry was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper and a member of the St. Meinrad Knights of Columbus.
Golf was his true passion, and he enjoyed helping people and loved spending time with his family, especially being papaw and grandpa for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Rosie Bartley, Jasper, two daughters Denise Merkley (Frank) St. Anthony, Debbie Hagemeyer (Jeff) Ferdinand, one son, Kenny Bartley, Jasper, ten grandchildren: Jason Hoffman, Nick Merkley, Landon Hoffman, Lauren Freed, Nathan Merkley, Lindsay Allen, Leigha Arnold, Katie Wilson, Jessica Bartley, and Natalie Bartley, fourteen great-grandchildren: Raegan Baker, Lawson Hoffman, Claire Merkley, Cadence Merkley, Kaylee Merkley, Leland Hoffman, Sophia Allen, Ethan Arnold, Charlotte Freed, Anza Rose Wilson, Sawyer Hoffman, Millie Mae Allen, Lynley Hoffman, and Benjamin Merkley.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Edward and Robert "Bob" Bartley.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Gerald "Jerry" Bartley will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow at St. Ferdinand Cemetery in Ferdinand, IN.
A visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday May 17, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN, and from 9:00 a.m until the 10:00 a.m. service time at the church on Friday. The St. Meinrad Knights of Columbus will conduct a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
