Genevieve "Jennie" Houtsch, age 92 of Otwell
Genevieve "Jennie" Houtsch, age 92 of Otwell, Indiana, passed away at 12:12 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2020 at Northwood Good Samaritan Retirement Community in Jasper, IN.
Jennie was born in Dubois, Indiana on June 18, 1928 to John and Matilda (Braun) Neukam. She married James N. Houtsch on September 26, 1953 in Granite City, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2020.
Jennie was a homemaker who enjoyed traveling, dancing, and boating on Patoka Lake.
She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Dubois, the Veteran of Foreign War Auxiliary (VFW) and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary (DAV).
Surviving are two daughters, Donna (Kevin) Brandt, Jasper, and Doreatha (Steven) Lintzenich, Mount Vernon, IN; one son, Michael (Judy) Houtsch, Otwell, IN; eight grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her husband was one son, Ruben John Houtsch who died in infancy, one brother Floyd Neukam and one sister, Eunice Welton.
Funeral services for Genevieve "Jennie" Houtsch will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, in Dubois, Indiana, with burial to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Dubois. Pastor John Sterrett will officiate.
A visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana and one hour before the service time at the church. Masks and social distancing will be required for the visitation and service.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family asks memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's United Church of Christ or to a favorite charity.
