Garry “Grandaddy” Burdin, 64, of Gentryville
Garry “Grandaddy” Burdin, 64, of Gentryville, Indiana passed away on July 23, 2024 at IU Health
Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Garry's loyalty and dedication to his friends were only
matched by his zest for life and unwavering commitment to spreading joy and laughter, making him an
inspiration to all who knew him and earning him the title, “Mayor of Gentryville” from friends in his
community.
Garry was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on December 28, 1959, to the late William H. Burdin and
Wanda F. (Edwards) Burdin of Hartford, Kentucky. Garry was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of
29 years, Marcia, whom he married on March 19, 1995. He frequently expressed his deepest admiration
for her, and it was evident to everyone around them that she was the one who brought light into his life.
Most importantly, Garry was a loving father. Quick to give advice and even quicker with forgiveness.
His
children: Keyona (Cody) Corley of Beaver Dam, KY, Nicholas Burdin of Manitou, KY, Mariah (Hunter)
Rowe of Santa Claus, IN, Jody (Greg) Meeks of Dale, IN, Jennifer (Matt) Klem of Jasper, IN, and his best
buddy, Cooper Eli (canine companion) will miss him greatly.
His seven remaining grandchildren lovingly called him Granddaddy; Jake, Emma, and Alexis Corley,
Liddie and Aden Burdin, Ellie and Noah Rowe, but today he gets to be called grandaddy by our precious
Kaiden Lamar Meeks who left this earth before him.
Garry was also survived by his siblings, Yavonne (David) McGary of Owensboro, KY, Karen Burdin of
Hartford, KY, and his twin brother Barry (Tricia) Burdin of Beaver Dam, KY.
Garry's time with us was brief, but his memory will endure in the hearts of those who loved him. His life
was a testament to the power of kindness and compassion, and his legacy will continue to inspire us all
to live better lives.
