Evelyn L. Fischer, age 79 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, IN.
Evelyn was born in Jasper, Indiana on May 16, 1939 to Clarence and Marie (Schuble) Vonderheide. She married Edwin F. Fischer on August 10, 1957 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
She had worked part time for the Jasper Herald.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ireland, and the Jasper Outdoor Recreation.
She enjoyed camping, playing cards, visiting the casino, and spending time with friends and family.
Surviving are her husband, Edwin F. Fischer of Jasper, one daughter, Brenda Wirthwein (Bernie), Huntingburg, one son, Steve Fischer (Sally), Jasper, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was one son, Mike Fischer, one sister, Marilyn Albertson, and two brothers, Pete Vonderheide and Richard Vonderheide.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyn L. Fischer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana with burial to follow in the Jasper Enlow City Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Davita Dialysis Center, or to a favorite charity.
