Eugene Thomas Bose of Jasper

Eugene Thomas Bose of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 11:07 am on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper Indiana.  

He was born on November 3, 1939 to Harold Marcus and Catherine Bose in Herkimer, NY.  Both parents preceded him in death.  He married Carolyn Day on April 16, 1966, in LeRoy New York.  She preceded him in death on July 18, 1996.  Together they had two children, Mary Catherine Rhodes from Jacksonville FL who preceded him in death on May 8, 2017 and Scott Bose from Arlington Texas.

On January 17, 2003, he married Jean Weyer Bose from Oakbrook Terrace IL (originally from Ferdinand, Indiana).  Jean Bose, from Jasper IN, survives as his loving wife and Caregiver.  Also surviving is a son, Scott Bose and daughter-in-law, Virginia Bose from Arlington TX, his sister, Madeline and brother-in-law Frank Lombardo from Oneonta, NY and sister-in-law, Pauline “Violet” Bose.  Survivors also include son in-law Marcq Rhodes and granddaughter Marissa Rhodes from Jacksonville FL, brothers-in-law, Leon Weyer and wife Donna Weyer of Ferdinand IN, Eugene Weyer and wife Betty Weyer of Charlestown IN and sister-in-law Toni Weyer of Ferdinand IN.  Preceding him in death was his brother, Harold John Bose, from Oneonta NY on November 26, 2014 and brother-in-law, Marvin “Baldy” Weyer, from Ferdinand, IN, on February 16, 2021.   

Eugene Bose was a USAF Retired Military Veteran having served 21 ½ years in Security Services During his tenure he received many awards including The Air Force Commendation Medals for Outstanding NonCombat Meritorious Service on four different occasions.  The Citation accompanying the award indicated, “Technical Sergeant Eugene T. Bose distinguished himself by meritorious service as a Noncommissioned Officer-in-Charge, Job Control, Maintenance Control Branch, Maintenance Division,  

Directorate of Maintenance, Headquarters United States Air Force Cryptologic Depot, United States Air Force Security Service.  Sergeant Bose’s outstanding professional skills, managerial abilities, dedication, and initiative aided immeasurably in identifying problems associated with his assigned dues and implementing procedures and techniques to solve these problems.  The energetic application of his extensive knowledge played a significant role in contributing to the effectiveness and success of the United States Air Force Mission.  The distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant Bose culminate a distinguished career in the service of his country and reflect credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.”  

After retiring from the Military, Eugene Bose spent over 25 years serving in various technology positions throughout the United States for Symbol Technologies Inc headquartered in Holtsville, NY on Long Island. Symbol Technologies Inc is an American manufacturer and supplies of mobile data capture and delivery equipment.  The company specializes in barcode scanners, mobile computers, RFID systems and wireless LAN infrastructure.  

Eugene Bose donated his body to the Genesis Legacy Whole Body Donation Foundation at the Medical Education & Research Institute located in Memphis TN for education and/or research for the advancement of medical, dental, or other health science field or therapy.
