Ernest L. "Ernie" Begle, age 82 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 2:32 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.
Ernie was born in Jasper, Indiana on October 8, 1936 to John and Frieda (Wendholt) Begle. He married Marilyn Fetcher on November 25, 1958 in Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves, and was a member of the American Legion Post #147.
Ernie was a professional photographer who specialized in wedding photography and was a photographer for the Dubois County Herald for 50 years.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jasper.
He enjoyed gardening, playing softball, attending his grandkids sporting events, playing pranks on friends, spending time at "The Lot", and spending time with friends, family, and his cat Black.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Begle of Jasper, one daughter, Kelly Norris, Missouri City, TX, three sons, Kurt Begle (Pam), Jasper, Greg Begle (Jenny), Jasper, and Dean Begle (Donna), Jasper, eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister, Annie "Sis" Altmeyer, Huntingburg, and one brother, Rich Begle of Jasper.
Preceding him in death was one brother, Leroy Begle, and his dog Bobe.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ernest L. "Ernie" Begle will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow at a later date at the Jasper Enlow City Cemetery. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, IN.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or a favorite charity.
