Emma Lou Engleman, 85, of Loogootee

Emma Lou Engleman, 85, of Loogootee, IN passed away on Sunday February 27, 2022 at St. Charles Health Campus Jasper, IN.

She was born in Montgomery, IN on February 11, 1937 to Frank Pettigrew and Lucille (Thompson) Hill.

Emma married Donald Lee Engleman (deceased) on January 23, 1956. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

She is survived by her two sons, Mike (Neina) Engleman and Steve (Lisa – deceased) Engleman both of Loogootee, IN. Her Grandchildren, April (Kevin) Boone of Frankfort, IN, Josh (Chelsey) Engleman of Mitchell, IN, Amber McBride of Loogootee, IN, Sarah (Ben) Hayhurst of Washington State, Anna (Branden) Martin of North Dakota, Stephanie Engleman of North Dakota, 13 Great Grandchildren, her sister Janet Cline of Washington, IN and several nieces and nephews.

Emma spent many years as a caregiver in the community for friends and family. She loved helping people, she never thought of herself but always thought of others. When Emma wasn’t taking care of others, she loved spending time with her six grandchildren and then later on her great grandchildren. She enjoyed time with her friends, and dancing. She loved it when people stopped by and visited when she sat in her swing.

Cremation was chosen according to her wishes.

The family will host a Celebration of Life for Emma on Saturday April 2, 2022 from 1:00 P.M until 3:00 P.M in the lower level of St. John Center. Everyone who knew Emma is cordially invited to stop by and share a memory. These were Emma’s wishes in lieu of a visitation and funeral.
