Emily Anne Rauscher, 36, of Salt Lake City, formerly of Huntingburg
Emily Anne Rauscher, age 36, of Salt Lake City, Utah, formerly of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away Monday, September 16, 2019, in Salt Lake City.
She was born on June 7, 1983, in Jasper, Indiana, to Steven L. and Cheryl Ann (Gerlach) Rauscher. Emily graduated from Southridge High School in 2002 and received her Ph.D. upon graduation from the University of Missouri. Emily was a member of the National Communication Association. She taught for one year at the University of Southern Indiana then for five years at Texas A & M before taking a position as Associate Professor of Communication Studies at the University of Utah. She was an accomplished scholar and influential contributor to the study of health and family communication, publishing in such journals as Communications Quarterly and the Journal of Family Communication. Emily loved reading and was a cherished teacher and mentor, cultivating future scholars in the family and health communication fields.
Emily is preceded in death by her grandparents, Russel and Bernice Gerlach and Louanna and Wilford Rauscher.
She is survived by her parents, Steve and Cheryl Rauscher of Huntingburg; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jeff Rauscher and his wife Laura of Clarksville, Tennessee and Nathan Rauscher of Huntingburg; her boyfriend, Brandon Bryant of Salt Lake City, two nieces, Avery and Cailyn Rauscher and many friends.
Funeral services for Emily Anne Rauscher will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at the Mayo Cemetery in Huntingburg, Indiana. Reverend Cathy Rosenholst will officiate at the service.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m., on Friday, and also from 9 – 10 Saturday prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made payable to the Dubois County Foundation for the Emily Rauscher Scholarship Fund or to a favorite charity.
