Elizabeth Laverne “Nip” Meyer, 86 of St. Henry
Elizabeth Laverne “Nip” Meyer, 86 of St. Henry passed away Monday September 23rd at her home in St. Henry. Elizabeth was born March 30, 1933 in St. Henry to Jim & Mary (Kemper) Schwinghamer. She was united in marriage to Clarence “Oaks” Meyer on August 23, 1952 in St. Henry Catholic Church. Oaks preceded her in death on February 15, 1998.
Nip & Oaks owned and operated the Bungalow Bar in St. Henry for 35 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Henry Parish, and it’s Christian Mothers Society. She was a member of St. Henry CK of A, St. Henry Community Club and was on the funeral ministry group. Elizabeth enjoyed painting Christmas items, glass jars and other arts & crafts. She also decorated wedding and other special occasion cakes. She enjoyed being with her family, relatives & friends.
Surviving are one daughter, Gerri “BoBo” (Jerry) Buse of Holland. Four sons, Donald (Laure) Meyer, Timothy (Joni) Meyer, Patrick (Cindy) Meyer and Robert (Lois) Meyer all of St. Henry. 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. One sister, Doris J. (Bernard) Herman of Tell City and One brother, Bill (Ruth) Schwinghamer of Dale. One sister-in-law, Dodie Schwinghamer of St. Henry. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Elmer & Floyd Schwinghamer.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday September 26th in St. Henry Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand from 2 to 8:00 PM Wednesday and from 7 to 9:30 AM on Thursday.
