Edward L. Giesler, age 82, of Ireland
Edward L. Giesler, age 82, of Ireland, Indiana, passed away at 2:57 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022, in St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.
Ed was born in Jasper, Indiana, on October 27, 1940, to Silas and Marie (Englehart) Giesler. He married Helen “Pee Wee” Mehringer on November 26, 1964, in St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2020.
Ed was a 1959 graduate of Jasper High School.
He was a United States Army Veteran serving from 1959-1963.
He retired from Kimball International where he had worked for 45 years.
He is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland and the K of C.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, playing cards, playing softball and was an avid IU basketball, Notre Dame and Indianapolis Colts football, and St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. He also loved spending time at his cabin at Beaver Lake.
Surviving are two daughters, Karla (Scott) Wigand, Jasper, IN, Mindy (Scott) Rankert, Plano, TX, two sons, Blake (Barb) Giesler, La Mirada, CA, Kyle (Janet) Giesler, Ireland, IN, 11 grandchildren, four step grandchildren, one great grandchild, seven step great grandchildren, eight siblings, Ruthie Elliot, Viola Brickey, Bill Giesler, Betty (Jim) Wildman, Donnie (Virlee) Giesler, Sue (John) Friedman, Terry (Juile) Giesler, and Larry (Robin) Giesler, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his wife are eight siblings, Charlie Giesler, Margie Block, Virginia Turk, Robert Giesler, Shirley Mehringer, Linda Giesler, Bernice Mathies, and Mary Jane Giesler, who died in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward L. Giesler will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, in St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military grave site rites. St. Mary Parish will pray a rosary at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, and one hour before services at the church from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
