Dorothy Ann “Dottie” Brosmer, age 97
Dorothy Ann “Dottie” Brosmer, age 97, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 5:10 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at St. Charles Health Campus surrounded by family.
Dottie was born in St. Meinrad, Indiana on May 23, 1926, to Robert and Frances (Ruxer) Becher She married the love of her life, Clete L. Brosmer on September 27, 1952, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2002.
She was the last surviving member of the Jasper High School Class of 1944.
She and Clete were founding members of Precious Blood Catholic Church where she was also a member of their Ladies Sodality. She retired as a beautician from Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home.
She enjoyed the outdoors, mowing grass, and just soaking up the sunshine. She enjoyed life to the fullest with an ever-present smile on her face. She was always happy and never knew a stranger. She collected hats and wore them all the time. She was known as the “Hat Lady” at Precious Blood.
Dottie is survived by two daughters; Barb (Gene) Hopf, and Beth Bawel, both of Jasper, one son; Mark Brosmer, Eagle Rock, CA, six grandchildren; Amy (Duane) Hopf, Shaun (Carrie) Hopf, Missy (Alex) Rodriquez, Mitch, Nate (Tina), and Max (Tara) Bawel, and nine great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by one son, Joe, who died in infancy, two sisters; Ann Krodel and Martha “Mert” Stallwood, two brothers; Gervase “Jerp” and Ralph “Tommy” Becher, and one son-in-law; Jeff Bawel.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Charles Health Care Campus For the excellent care given to Dottie during her stay. She loved it there and please know she dearly loved each and every one of you. We cannot thank you enough for making us feel so welcomed every time we visited.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy Ann “Dottie” Brosmer will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7 :00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The Ladies Sodality will pray a rosary at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Catholic Church, DCCF Clete and Dottie Brosmer Endowment, or a favorite charity.
