Dorena “Becky” (Beck) Schnaus age 97
It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Dorena “Becky” (Beck) Schnaus who left us on 8/25/24, at 4:45 AM. At the remarkable age of 97, Becky lived a life full of love, wisdom, and grace, touching the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Becky was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose boundless love shaped the lives of her family for generations. Her legacy is one of kindness and resilience. She was a guiding light, always there with a listening ear, sage advice, or a warm embrace.
Becky was born on November 24, 1926 and experienced nearly a century of change and growth in the world. She was also the oldest living parishioner in the St. Mary Parish in Ireland. Through it all, she remained steadfast in her values, cherishing the importance of family, community, and faith. Her home was a haven of comfort and joy, where laughter was shared, and memories were made. She was a homemaker worked on the family farm with her husband, Virgil.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, St. Ann’s Society, Jasper D of I, V.F.W. Post #673 Auxiliary, and the Ireland Sportsman ClubBecky enjoyed playing cards, BINGO, socializing and having root beer floats, and spending time with family and friends.
She leaves behind a rich legacy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will forever carry forward the lessons she imparted. Her strength and grace in the face of life’s challenges have left a mark on us all. We find solace in knowing that her spirit will continue to live on in the lives she touched.
Surviving are three daughters, Darlene (Mike Tower) Ofer, Marcia (Phil) Knies, Sheryl (Tom) Tempel, all of Jasper, IN, two sons, Stan (Kathy) Schnaus, and Doug (Brenda) Schnaus, both of Ireland, 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren. Becky will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
We are comforted by the knowledge that she is now at peace, reunited with her husband, Virgil, and son Joe, son-in-law, Dennis Ofer, and three brothers, Robert, Eugene, and Ambrose Beck who have gone before her. Her memory will be a blessing to us always.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorena C. “Becky” Schnaus will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
