Donald R. Mehling, 51 of Ferdinand passed away Monday February 25th in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper of complications of multiple sclerosis of which he battled for 20 years.
Donald was born on November 2, 1967 in Huntingburg to Jerome & Marcella (Rickelman) Mehling. He was united in marriage to Jan E. Knight on July 20, 1996 at Lincoln Boyhood Chapel.
Donald was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church. He was employed at Hardees until his diagnosis. His hobbies were sports, coin collecting, and playing Yahtzee. He was a graduate of Forest Park High School, class of 1996.

Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Jan E. Mehling, one son, Donnie P. Mehling, one daughter, Kelsey E. Mehling both at home. Four sisters, Rebecca Mehling & husband Doug Reeder, Donna White (Larry) both of Columbus, OH, Elaine Schipp (George) of Ferdinand and Carol Mehling and husband Don Loehr of Evansville. Two brothers, Jim Mehling and wife Sue Ellsperman and Bill Mehling (Sharon) both of Ferdinand. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Mary Knight of Birdseye, sister-in-law, Judy Froman (Scott) of Eckerty, and brother-in-law, Jim Knight (Vicki) of Celestine. 13 nieces and nephews, and 13 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome & Marcella Mehling, one brother, Partick Mehling and his father-in-law, Kenneth Knight.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM Friday March 1st in Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8:00 PM on Thursday and from 7 to 9:30 AM Friday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
