Dennis E. Otto, age 78, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2019, in Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.
Dennis was born on January 9, 1941, to Aloysius and Eldena (Zehr) Otto. He married Marlene Ann Sermersheim, his wife of 57 years, on May 13, 1961, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntingburg, Indiana.
Dennis was a 1959 graduate of Jasper High School.
He was in the Army National Guard.
He worked as a brick mason for 43 years.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jasper and the Jasper Moose.
He enjoyed golfing, crappie fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Marlene Otto, Jasper, IN, one daughter, Lisa Methena, Jasper, IN, two sons, Kurt (Jill) Otto, Jasper, IN, and Kent (Laura) Otto, Jasper, IN, six grandchildren, Trevor, Travis, Spencer, Reagan, Olivia, and Max, two great grandchildren, Michael and Laureli, one brother, Donald (Shirley) Otto, Huntingburg, IN.
Preceding him in death are one sister, Dolores Rauscher, and one brother, who died infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Dennis E. Otto will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with entombment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper, Indiana.
A visitation will be held from 2:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana. The Jasper Moose will have a ritual at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
