Dennis A. Werne, 81, of Ferdinand

Dennis was born on February 24, 1940 in Saint Meinrad to Hubert and Mathilda (Becher) Werne. He was united in marriage to Janet S. Oser on September 3, 1960 in Saint Ferdinand Church. Janet preceded him in death on July 6, 2019. 

Dennis retired as an insurance agent after 30 years. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, Saint Ferdinand Church, and the Ferdinand Community Center. He enjoyed sports, especially lineament league softball, photography, and being with his grandchildren.

 Surviving are two daughters, Sharon (Rick) Bockelman of Huntingburg, and Sue Thompson of Nineveh, In. Three grandchildren, Emily (Josh) Watson, Philip (Morgan) Bockelman, Amy Bockelman and fiance’ Matt Seger. Five great-grandchildren. One brother, James (Bonnie) Werne of Washington. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Wayne Thompson. 

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday October 1, 2021 in Saint Ferdinand Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday October 1st form 9:00 until 11:00 AM. 

In lieu of flowers the family asks that a tree be planted or memorial contributions to a favorite charity.
