Delbert W. Fields, 82, of Loogootee

Delbert W. Fields, 82, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away at 8:56 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Sycamore Care Strategies. 

He was born October 12, 1940 in Loogootee, Indiana to the late Eugene Fields and Goldie May (Dillion) Fox. 

Delbert was a United States Army veteran. He was a member of the 522nd Engineer Battalion. He loved to ride motorcycles and camping. Delbert enjoyed his time spent in Florida. His grandchildren, Mindy and Ethan, were his world. Delbert was known for being able to fix nearly anything and everything. He was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 425. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Sharon Irene Fields; son, Delbert Wayne Fields Jr.; grandson, Ethan Fields; parents, Eugene Fields and Goldie May Fox; siblings, Buddy Fields, Carl (Betty) Fields, Charles (Anna) Fields, Jackie (Joyce) Fields, Rosie Fields and Laura (Bob) Wathen.

Delbert is survived by his son, Mark (Mary) Fields of Loogootee; granddaughter, Mindy (Jarrod) Rose; great-grandsons, Asher and Cannon; half-siblings, Barbara Jean Moffatt, Billy Fields, and Frankie Fields; and many nieces and nephews. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee, Indiana. Burial will follow in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church.
